The GOAT (Canada)

Chris Marcenkiewicz, bettern known as The GOAT may be a new name in stores around the world, but this Canadian artist is all but new to the world of music.

Getting started in music as a live musician playing drums in punk and thrash bands, he was inspired by the fast and percussive nature of this kind of music. It was after travels to Berlin and Eastern Europe as well as a rising techno scene in western Canada when he was drawn to the equally fast and percussive elements in Techno.

Fusing warped percussive-live synth stabs, smokey ambiances, and richly diverse drums, while harmonizing sounds that most others would perceive as noise; using elements like distorted chords or creating ambient pads from the coarseness of a scream — all this focus on texture has been the driving force in the music that Chris creates.
